Have you ever calibrated a watch integrated altimeter? No need to break your fingers and remember the sequence of button presses anymore. Benefit from the flexibility of a touchscreen device and experience the one-tap calibration of Barometric Altimeter. You will never want go back.
If you know the altitude at your current location you can calibrate the barometer using that data.
You somehow know the sea-level air pressure, eg. from your weather-station or a nearby airport? Calibrate your altimeter with it to get near perfect altitude readings.
If you neither know your current height or air pressure just use the automatic mode. Barometric Alitmeter will use a combination of your phones GPS sensor and weatherdata from the internet to find the best result. Even while this data is far from perfect your relative height will be pretty damn good!
For best results I recommend a current generation Apple device with integrated barometer, like the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus
For devices without a barometer the altitude will be provided by the GPS sensor. Not perfect but still surprisingly good in most situations.
I'm Stephan, a 30-ish year old independent developer from Rosenheim (Bavaria) and outdoor enthusiast. The idea for an altimeter app was spinning around in my head for a long time. With the announcement of the iPhone 6 and its integrated barometric pressure sensor I started sketching right away. I'm pleased with the result and hope you share my joy for the app. If you have any questions and/or suggestions please let me know!
